Chinese New Year visitation is finally over, loads of ang paos collected and i'm 1 happy person at the start of the new year. Surprisingly, i had more fun than expected during the past few days.

So, let's re-track to a few days back.
Chinese New Year Eve - 28th January 2006, Saturday
My family and i went to my grandma's house, together with my dad's eldest sister (a.k.a. my da gu ma) and family, we had reunion dinner. Seriously, what is Chinese New Year without steamboat? Had reunion dinner at my grandma's house was so because my grandma just moved in like a month and she's all alone so we decided to join her. I ate quite abit, especially chicken wings which i kept grilling them on the side pan and of course the prawn was quite nice too, but a bit too small for my liking. After dinner, all of us watched Godzilla before going home.

Chinese New Year Day 1 - 29th January 2006, Sunday
As always, 1st day of Chinese New Year will always be on my mum's side. Went to my grandparents' house at around 11+am then at around 12.15pm we left for Mirama Hotel for buffet lunch, as always. Of course if you go to Mirama Hotel for buffet, MUST at least have 2 bowls of shark's fin soup and of course i'll go for the satays and a bit of this and that and lastly, the ice cream is a must-must.
After lunch, went to my great aunties place at Tiong Barhu, to what i know my great grandparents used to stay there so you can imagine how old that place is. I used to feel quite bored there but it was a bit better this year. It's so as there was a bit of entertainment - for example, my bro fought with my cousin and my cousin kind of cried..they were kind of squeezed together in a chair and i think because there was not enough space then they started to get frustrated and none of them wanted to get up and move elsewhere so they started hitting each other. After that we went back home and around 5.30pm we went out again to church for the evening service as we did not attend church in the morning, as usual, my sis didn't go.

Chinese New Year Day 2 - 30th January 2006, Monday
Today is a visit to my grandma's house again. Had lunch and watch some gambling cantonese movie which i found quite interesting so i watched til the end. After that had nothing to do so my brother and i went to the arcade to play. The arcade's quite cheap compared to the 1 at TM - 50 cents for 1 token and each game only require 1 token. My brother and i played off $5 each and it actually last us around 1 hr, compared to the arcade at TM, i can only last maybe the most 1/2 hr there. After that we went back and my cousin and her husband had already came so received another ang pao...actually the 1st ang pao i received from her since she got married and now she's like pregnant..ooo..so excited. Then, after that went to watch my grandma, dad, aunty and uncle play majong. This year my grandma house quite quiet cuz 3 of my aunties didn't come. 1 of my cousins brought a game called 'BANG!' and it required at least 4 players so 3 of my cousins, my cousin-in-law, my bro and i played like 3 rounds and it's very fun and those 3 rounds actually took us nearly 2hrs, you guys should go find the game and play it. Then, around 6pm like that we all went home.

Chinese New Year Day 3 - 31st January 2006, Tuesday
Today was my church's 5 elders open house. Since we've visited all the relatives already and today was just an extra holiday to make for Sunday, so my parents, bro and i went to 3 of the open house and as usual my sis doesn't want to have anything to do with church anymore so she didn't go.
First we visited Uncle Eric's house. When we reached there, there were like nobody there and we were the only ones around until some time later then others started arriving and we had a group pic together.

Our second stop was at Uncle William's place. There were more people there and it was like more lively. Had a couple of drinks, sandwich, mini ice cream and cakes and watched tv all the way until we left.

As it was quite late already - around 3.30pm, our final destination was to Uncle Adrian's house. Btw, for your info, Uncle Adrian is the national swimmer Nicolette Teo's dad. There wasn't really anybody around as they'd left to visit the other church member's house. Only Charles and Justina were there with their 10 mth old son Aiden. It's like quite quiet because both Uncle Adrian's children are in the US - Nicolette's studying there and her brother Christopher is married there to an American and his new born son is so cute!! How cool is that?!? I had loads of fun there because cute little Aiden is just so cute! He's like the happiest baby i've ever seen. He kept grabbing sweets on the table and laughing at them, crawl under the table and bump his head so many times and still can come out laughing...omg...i wished he is my son if i ever have 1. Had an interesting conversation with Charles, Justina, Uncle Adrian and Aunty Doreen and of course cute little Aiden was quite an entertainment too. This has been my most favourite visit so far and i hope i can come to Uncle Adrian's house again next year.

Interestingly, alot of ppl asked where was my sis, then because my mum didn't want to talk abt her, she just told them that she flew away with a malay guy..lol. So, after that we went to Lau Pa Sat for an early dinner then we went home.

Anyway, i know this post is quite long, so sorry to all who find this a bit too long, but this has been 1 of my best Chinese New Year in my 18 years of celebrating it and it's to make up for then next few days that i'll prob not be posting entries. I think last year's economy was quite good because surprisingly, i received more than 1.5 times more money this year than the past few years. Usually i don't receive more than $150, but considering i've not received ang paos from 3 of my aunties and did not collect as much at my grand aunties' house, i've almost reached the $230 mark and having more fun was a bonus too and thank god for it all if not this year will be celebrating another boring new year. So i'll end here if not everybody will start asking me to shut up and end it. So Happy Chinese New Year to all and hope you all receive somemore ang paos in the days to come.
